Inauguration..

Bible verses used by America's presidents when taking office.

1. George Washington opened his Bible at Genesis 49:13 "Zebulun will live by the seashore and become a haven for ships; his border will extend toward Sidon." He used a Masonic Bible, referred to now as the Washington Bible and his swearing in as chief executive took place in New York City, the Nation's temporary capital prior to Washington D.C.

2. Ronald Reagan chose 2Chronicles 7:14 : "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." His mother, to whom the Bible belonged, is said to have underlined the verse and scribbled next to it: "this verse is good for the healing of a nation."

3. When Barack Obama was sworn into office as the 44th president of America, he did so with his left hand placed on a Bible and right hand raised heavenward as he uttered the oath of office.

4. The right-hand gives the greater blessing! Thus the Christian tradition of shaking hands, saluting, and taking the oath with the right hand.. Gen48:17 "And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head".

Four More !

Hi Everyone,

I trust that most of you have heard the election results and are aware that President Obama has been re-elected. So we will most likely see continuing progression toward the NWO 'New World Order'.

Christians, time to seriously think about where you are going to stand as the "Christian hate" continues to grow in this country and as we move towards the "Mark of the Beast". http://www.cswnet.com/~duxrow/acrostic.htg/patt6x4.gif

I know we all want to "Twinkle" and go UP, 1Cor15:52, but the trials we may face until that time is what concerns me. Think and prepare. Stay faithful. Abide in the teachings of the Lord and in your faith until he comes.

The Trinity...

2Cor5:6 "Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord". [Looking forward to our 'New one'.!]

1Thes5:23 "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ". [We're a Trinity, too!]

Heb4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart".
[If they can be divided, they aren't the same, but different.]

Mark5:13 "And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea".
[Guess the pigs preferred death to being unholy occupied.]

The Word Says..

I always say what The Word says, because the Word is LIGHT, It spells the Way we need to pray, and gives us second-sight. Our feet can be like hinds feet, 'cause hindsight is much better, So when we sing & praise the Lord, we shake the devil's fetter.

I always say what The Word says, because the Word is a ROCK, A fortress of Living Words to supply and water God's stock. If you can stand on principle, you can walk on the water of God, First you'll have to wash your feet, and get them spiritually shod!

I always say what The Word says, because the Word is CORN! A kind of sugar from the Lord, so we could be re-born. He doesn't charge us for it: The oxen ground it out.. So we could fill our sacks up full, and learn to praise and shout! Ps78

I always say what The Word says, because the Word is BREAD, And it feeds as many people as are there to hear it said. This bread we share is special because we eat it with our ears.. Then we toast it at Communion, and wash it down with cheers!

I always say what The Word says, because the Word is DRINK... To those who have a thirst for Truth, it causes them to think. It's not your ordinary water...No, this can be changed to wine, The words that pour from heaven are from the God who is the Vine!

I always say what my Father says, because the Word is GOD, The Author wrote a Book of Life for a Standard and a Rod, We have to fish for the meaning--we can't just camp out on top, The still that supplies this water, is good to the deepest drop!

TOUGH LOVE !

How you gonna be "an overcomer", if there's nothing or nobody to overcome?

How you gonna be a winner or successor if there aren't others in the race or competition?

Without friction, nothing gets done -- you'll just be 'spinning your wheels', so to speak.

The serpent in the Garden isn't identified until Revelation 12:9 -- he's been here, the 'god of this world', 1Cor4:4, all the time, and making us think it was the Heavenly Father's fault. Isn't that just like the devil?
Yes, it's for OUR BENEFIT that Satan was introduced, but for a relatively short time it seems, and then there'll be a Rewards Banquet !! Hope to see you there. (fat chance, methinks)

Ecc9:11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
Psalm19:5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
1Cor9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
Heb12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The Scarlet Thread

The scarlet thread identified the first-born twin, Zarah, whose descendants would eventually (4 generations later) be destroyed by fire after the thievery at Jericho. The second born, Pharez, was in the genealogy of Jesus.

Gen38:28 "And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first, v29: And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez. v30: And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.

The Firstborn were special: Exodus13:12 “That thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the LORD's”.

Josh7:1 But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

Josh7:24: And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

Note how Achan is called 'son of Zerah', when he would really be the great-grandson. Does this imply a direct association of some kind between these two?

Another Scarlet Thread is connected to the story of Rahab the harlot, who gives protection to the two spies sent out by Joshua, and whose house is identified by the thread.

Josh2:18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.

Jos:6:25: "And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho".

Ps119:11 "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee".

TWINS !

TWINS IN THE BIBLE

1) The most familiar are Esau and Jacob, Gen25:23, and the peculiar focus on their order of birth, with the body-language expression of Jacob grabbing the heel of the firstborn Esau. Gen 25:23 KJV "And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger".

2) Then comes the twins born of Tamar in the parenthetical chapter 38 of Genesis. The scandalous story of Judah fathering Zarah and Pharez puts a special emphasis on the order of their birth when the midwife ties a scarlet thread to the firstborn (the one who first opens the womb).
Further reading reveals how Pharez is in the genealogy of David, but the line of Zarah is wiped out by Achan at Jericho. Josh7:1

3) Not a twin in the same sense, but Castor and Pollux, the Gemeni twins, are mentioned in Acts28:11. A book by E.W.Bullinger "The Witness of the Stars", narrates how the 12 constellations of the Zodiac told the story of the coming of Christ in those ages before writing came into being.

4) Was the Apostle Thomas a twin? He was also called Didymus (means "twin"), although I find no record of his brother anywhere. John11:16, 20:24, 21:2.

5) Manasseh and Ephraim, Gen41:51, are never thought of as twins, but having a father named Joseph and a grand-father named Jacob, calls to mind the same heritage of Mary in Matthew 1:16. Doesn't it? Or maybe not?

6) Triplets? The sons of Noah are a possibility. Ham is called the younger, and Japheth the elder, but that info may only indicate the order of their birth. Gen9:24, 10:21 You think?

Like Solomon sang, 7:3, Did I get all the juice from this orange ??

City of Enoch

City of Enoch - Genesis 4:17

A diller a dollar, a 5 o'clock scholar was studying the Word of the Lord, When all of a sudden he noticed some things that would keep him from ever being bored. The City of Enoch, he noted, was built by the son of Cain.. How many people were there to help (?), Is something that was never made plain!

A diller a dollar, the 5 o'clock scholar wondered why not give the city a name of its own..? There were plenty of names that weren't already taken: like Paris, or New York, or Rome. A name like Enoch would just be confusing, and you'd have to stop and think... Is it the man or the City of Enoch that's meant? Is this city to Babel a link?

A diller a dollar, the 5 o'clock scholar noticed something else that was strange.. That the Enoch who "walked with God" had copied this very same name! "Why would he do a thing like that?", he thought, "What was so great about the name Enoch?" Did using that name help him walk with God? Or was that city especially scenic?

There is a name that's above all others; and the name of David is used for a city.. But many folks don't know the Way; they've lost the directions...more's the pity. The City of David is the City of Love -- it's the city named Bethlehem.. But the city we're looking for today is called "New Jerusalem"!

A diller a dollar, the 5 o'clock scholar heard the chimes that came from the tower, He'd been so engrossed in his studies, he hadn't realized it was the eleventh hour. The way to get to this City, he'd learned, was to start out by walking in love... and then to begin eating the Living Bread that was sent down from God above.

The story of Enoch as told in Genesis 5:24 leaves us hanging. We wonder: Where did he go? Not until Jude 14 speaks of "Enoch, the 7th from Adam" are we provided a crumb of a clue which brings awareness of the two Enoch's and two Lamech's and the generation count which eventually leads to David #33 and to Jesus #66.

The Naked Truth !

The Bible portrays us as Trees, as Clay, as Seeds, Temples, Vessels, and our body as a 'House'. We are Spirit, Soul, and Body, 1Thes5:23, and sounds like if our house got blown away, maybe we could get in the Chevy till the storm ceased? The evolution from Model T's to Cadillac makes me wonder whether God cares what kind of car we're dressed in?

2Cor5:1 "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. v.2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: v3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked".

2Tim2:20 "But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. v21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work".

Heb3:2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. Heb3:3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. v.4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

Genesis 3:7 "And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons".

They were NAKED, but didn't even realize it until they ATE from the Tree!

Banning Cheeseburgers !

"..Thou shalt not ‘seethe’ a kid in his mother's milk".
Ex23:19, 34:26, Dt14:21. Strongs: ‘bashan’, #1310, to bake, boil, cook, roast, ripen.

This law was written three times in the OT, and the repetition gives it an impetus worthy of note. This is reportedly the reason why dairy products are kept separate from meat products in Jewish communities, and cheeseburgers not allowed.

IMO there’s a much deeper reason. They ignorantly 'seethed a kid in his mother's milk' when they crucified Jesus on the cross with his mother looking on helplessly.

Both Paul and Peter spoke of the "Milk of the Word" - 1Cor3:2, 1Pet2:2. (In jest, perhaps: Father's Milk?) 1Pet2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby”, and 1Cor3:2 “I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able”.

SCAPEGOAT. Jesus was spoken of as "the lamb of God", and in the OT the scapegoat was part of the ritual for the Day of Atonement, Lev16:8, when the sins of all the people were placed on the head of the scapegoat (he wasn't responsible, but took the blame).

In the OT it was Isaiah who planted a clue about this: "Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts". Isa28:9. And Moses alluded to the concept in Numbers 11:12 “Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?

It may help to remember how "Almighty God" is known as 'the breasty one', from Gen17:1, and how “the letter of the law killeth, but the spirit giveth life”, 2Cor3:6.

Thoughts?

PRECEPTS

Melchizedek / Saul-David / Hezekiah

1. Genesis 14:18 - “And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God”. After this cameo introduction, the Bible says nothing else about Melchizedek until a thousand years later in Psalm 110, and then it’s ANOTHER thousand years until the Book of Hebrews elaborates on how Jesus is the figure of Melchisedec (spelled with an ‘s’ and a ‘c’ in the New Testament). Melchizedek is a King AND a Priest, to contrast with how the kings of Israel were not permitted to usurp the duties of priests. 2Chr26:18. Ps 110:4 “The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek”. So the books of Genesis and Psalms and Hebrews all contribute to our knowledge of the King-Priest of ‘Jerusalem’.

2. The Hebrews desired to have a king over them (as the other nations), and God disapproved, 1Sam10:19, but granted them a king from the Tribe of Benjamin named Saul, who was ‘a head taller’ than others, 1Sam9:2, so I gather he looked the part, even though at first he seemed reluctant to receive the title. Gradually he became a ‘take-charge’ king and became envious of young David who seemed to be winning more battles than Saul. After David’s win over Goliath and Saul’s error in not waiting for the Prophet Samuel, the crown was taken away from Saul and awarded instead to young David.

When we read this story with hindsight; knowing how the New Testament speaks of the ‘old man of the flesh’ and the ‘new, hidden man of the heart’, we can begin to see how the tale is telling in figurative language of how Saul becomes David. David is reluctant to kill off the old-man, because the two are ‘one’. The Amalekite’s are a type of Satan who eventually do the job (cause the suicide) 2Sam1:10. They’re the same nation that fights against Israel and loses whenever the hands of Moses are lifted (helped by Aaron and Hur, Ex17:12) and Joshua becomes victorious in the background of this figurative battle.

3. King Hezekiah is one of the greatest kings in the Old Testament; following after the LORD with all his heart, and observing a noteworthy Passover, 2Chr30. His story is told in 2K25 and 2Chr30, and in chapters 36-39 of Isaiah, and he’s the only person in the Bible who knows the year of his death, after being awarded an added 15 years. When he wants a sign to confirm he’ll go to the Lord’s House ‘on the 3rd’ Day’, 2K20:5, following those 15 years, it’s the shadow of the sun dial moving backwards for ten degree’s. Then, his only son, Manasseh, is born 3 years later, because he’s only 12 years old when he inherits Hezekiah’s reign. 2K21:1.

If we can believe our calendars at all, then Calvary occurred over 2,000 years ago, and when a thousand years are as one day, to the LORD, it has only been about two days. Therefore, we may be in the LORD’s Third Day right now! And Y2K may have been the beginning of our 15 added years – that is, if Hezekiah’s story had a deeper meaning than we’ve been giving it credit for…

Drinking Gold ?

    Drink Gold Dust?

"And it came to pass, as soon as he[Moses] came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it. Exodus 32:19,20

WOW! Is this weird, or not?
The Old Testament doesn't explain it at all, and the Book of Exodus leaves out some of the story -- the part about throwing the powdered gold into the brook that descended out of the mountain is from Deut9:21. It would seem the Israeli's were required to scoop up and drink handfuls of water mixed with gold-dust from the brook. To what purpose, I wondered?

Then I chanced to come across a book in a Christian bookstore: "The Chemistry of the Blood", by Dr. M.R. DeHaan. It informed me that gold dust in a colloidal solution with water had the appearance of blood! Evidentally it's something known to artists who paint ceramics, etc. Now it's been quite a few years since I read that book, but I recollect the author going on to say how the Children of Israel had recently left Egypt where God had said when He saw the blood he would PASSOVER them (an atoning action). His conclusion was that Moses had them drink the so-called blood to atone for their idolatry. That makes sense, doesn't it?

At first, it did. But then I recalled a pre-Law commandment to Noah which said they were prohibited from eating with the blood, Gen9:4, and the contradiction bothered me. Surely Moses knew the Kosher practice kept them from partaking of blood--I asked myself why Moses didn't just have them wash with that so-called blood, instead of having them drink it. Wouldn't that have satisfied the atoning action?

Maybe you can imagine my excitement when revelation finally came! COMMUNION!

The "most precious blood of Jesus", 1Pet1:19, is what we drink in taking communion -- and He's the Word of God which in Psalm 19 is compared to much fine gold. The so-called blood which Moses had them drink wasn't biological blood, and neither is the communion cup which we partake of under the New Covenant. Figuratively speaking we're drinking His blood, but also the most fine gold, in our toasting of the New Covenant! It's still an atoning action! So how long has it been since you've taken communion??

Other precepts of communion include Melchizedek, the Butler & Baker, and the Lying Gibeonites...

Who Am I ?

1. His mother named him Samuel “asked of the Lord”. 1:20 (Holy Spirit to them that ASK: Lk11:13)
2. There was much ado about his speaking and being weaned from milk prior to his priestly duties. 3:9 (From milk to meat: 1Cor3:2)
3. He personally anointed King Saul, and afterwards David. Just those two, 15:1 and 16:13. (1John2:27 for special anointing)
4. Samuel “wrote a book about the kingdom”, 10:25. (Not by will of men, but by Holy Spirit: 1Pet 1:21).

5. He was 'called up from the dead' in a ghostly seance by the so-called 'witch of Endor". 28:12 (Mark 1:8 Another name for Holy Spirit)

6. He wore a mantle. 28:14 (cp to Elijah/Elisha)
7. None of his words 'fall to the ground'. 3:19. (John16:13 - Whatever the Spirit hears, he speaks..)
8. To reject him is to reject God. 8:7. (Father, Son, Holy Ghost -- Trinity)
9. He's a Teacher. 12:23 (John 14:26 'leading to further truth')

(The Book of 1st Samuel introduces this special baby (Prophet: Acts13:20) into the era between the Judges and the Kings.)

The Two Covenants

Romans 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

1 Corinthians 12:5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. Matthew 13:33
Notice; this is 'hidden leaven' -- Colossians 1:27 applies!

Beheaded!

BEHEADED

Lk 1:19

The Angel Gabriel told him his wife would have a son! All those years they'd waited, and now the time had come. The baby was a gift from God who'd one day be a preacher To lead the people to the Lord so they'd become new creatures.

Strange food, strange clothes, and odd behavior.. Why God would send a tiny babe to introduce the Savior! Filled with the spirit from above; seeing the vision of the dove, Immersing in water, getting them wet Condemning their sins and making them fret. This baby, like Elijah, would soon grow up to be an example of a new name to go down in history!

It tongue-tied Zacharias--struck down by disbelief.. Until the day he named that name his dumbness caused him grief. The new-name then was John--it hadn't been used before, But now the name, above all others, is Jesus! He's the Door!

Now Our Head is up in heaven -- the Body's here on Earth! A spiritual beheading that gives us all great mirth. A story that's intriguing and never is x-rated.. From the Head that's up in heaven which has been decapitated! He wants the Body to obey and carry out his wishes, So we'll "be drawn from the water" too, like all the other fishes!

John the Baptist led the way, with his head on a silver platter, The birthday party of Herod climaxed with that gruesome matter. So the ‘Body of Christ’, (1Cor10:16), could know for sure ‘our Head’ was still intact, And breathing fresh air in heaven upstairs, where flying is matter of fact!

Note: The name Moses means "drawn from the water", and Jesus called the disciples to be fishers of men. Soon we’ll be flying ‘round heaven, Ps90:10, like birds in the air.

Ps91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Matt3:4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

Luke7:28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

Matt14:6 But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

Neh8:12 And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.

1John3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Not everybody of course – some may continue in their present bodies forever and ever, you think?

PARADOX

"The opposite of what one might think", a paradox is an incredible or unbelievable statement that may somehow be true; a kind of verbal miracle or two-headed monster that pits one rational thought against another in a mental tug of war. Like when the irresistible force meets the immovable object, or like pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps.

A Bible paradox concerns how or why an omnipotent and omniscient and loving GOD would permit wicked satan to wreak such destructive havoc on Planet Earth, especially when the text often attributes the violence to GOD Himself.

The word 'paradox' isn't used in the Bible, but 'allegory' is used in Galatians 4:24, to say how The Two Covenants relate to Abraham's two sons. Now the allegory of sin says that WE have been given a limited time frame to be as wicked and hateful, or obnoxious and persnickety, as we want to be, but the end is coming!
We have found the enemy and he is US.

The "Confounding of the Language", Gen11:7, may play a part here, considering the many figures of speech, poetic expressions, and our various cultures.
Some say that Adam was initially given domain, even over the serpent, but lost it through his disobedience. Not clear to me how that helps, but considering the scriptures: "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God", Heb12:2, as well as Rev4:11 "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created", we better not get too big for our britches, doncha think?

Three Days AND Three Nights

Jesus was crucified on Friday. ?? Not likely; more probably it was Wednesday (in the "midst of the week", Dan9:27). Days of the week are not mentioned in the Bible, although the weekly Jewish sabbath is universally accepted as beginning at sunset on Friday and lasting until sunset on Saturday. So many believe the "three days" to be Fri., Sat., and Sun., despite the abbreviated time Jesus would have spent in the tomb--less than 36 hrs. All of Saturday, but none on Friday because His body was taken down just before sunset,, and not much on Sunday because He had already risen when Mary arrived early in the morning following the sabbath.

Jesus said "three days AND three nights", and he said it twice. Matt 12:40. Then John's gospel says it was a "high" sabbath, Jn 19:31. These "high sabbaths", or "days of holy convocation", Lev23:7 were celebrated according to God's directions, and they could occur on any day of the week--not just Saturday. They were going by the Lunar Calendar as well as by instructions from the Torah which called for them to kill the lamb on the 14th day of the first month (Ex12:6), and to have a holy convocation on the day following (Ex12:16).

Each "month" began with a new moon, so on the 14th and 15th it would be full. Their calendar in the sky, so to speak, lasted for just 29.5 days, and resulted in a year of 354 days--eleven days short of a solar calendar year. They would begin that second year just eleven days ahead, but after two years it would be 22 days off, and after three years it would be 33 days off. They corrected this by having a second Month-Adar at the end of every third year; knowing that this correction was not perfect and that the tiny error would eventually have to be dealt with, if they didn't want to have snow in July or a heat wave in February. [The Hebrew months, or moons, were named differently: from Abib(#1) to Adar(#12), and the Chaldean or Aramaic names differed also.]

So, since Jesus is the Lamb-of-God, was he actually crucified on the Day of Passover; on the 14th of that first month Nissan? Go to the head of the class! And the day following was that "high sabbath" which the Apostle John wrote about--it was the first day of Unleavened Bread, which lasted for seven days.. John 18:28,39.

Wednesday, 14th
Passover/Calvary
Thur. 15th - Unleavened
Bread / High Sabbath
Friday, 16th Saturday, 17th
Regular Sabbath
Sunday, 18th
Easter/Firstfruits Resurrection!

Mary came to the tomb on the morning after the regular weekly sabbath. It's this agenda which fits all the facts and still allows time for Him to be in the grave for three days AND three nights.
